In order to foster common grading expectations at Creekland, all teachers have been given a grade book template to use.The template contains grading rules and grading weights that are common for the entire school.
Grading rules define how numerical grades will be allocated to the letter grades A, B, C, D, and U.Grading rules are consistent throughout Gwinnett County as part of GCPS policies and procedures.
Grading Weights define what percentage each category such as tests, classwork, and projects will count towards the total grade. These weights are consistent through all academic content areas at Creekland with the only exceptions being those Connections classes that rely heavily on performance assessments.

Classwork vs. Homework
In order to bring appropriate uniformity to the question regarding the differences in student work and the category in which that work is placed for the purpose of grading, the following explanation is provided.
Simply stated...if the work is done at home it is homework...it is not classwork that was completed at home.
If classwork is sent home for completion, the portion completed at home becomes homework and should be reflected in the grade book as such.
If a project is sent home for completion, the portion completed at home becomes homework and should be reflected in the grade book as such.
Academic Recovery Plan
Creekland has an Academic Recovery Plan that allows students to retake a test if they are not satisfied with the grade they earned. This form includes a plan for remediation that the student must complete before a retest is allowed. Students may obtain this form from his teacher so that they can schedule a time for the retest.

Go2 Portal Goes Live
The Go2 Parent Portal went “live” for the Collins Hill Cluster on February 9th. Parents who completed a registration form should have received their secure login ID and password information via an email from the district. The parent portal will allow parents to monitor their child’s academic performance and attendance at any time. Parents also have access to testing and discipline information. As a result of this new communication tool, our teachers will only send emailed progress reports for the remainder of the third nine weeks. At the beginning of the fourth nine weeks, we will no longer send emailed progress reports. Parents will be expected to use the Go2 Parent Portal to stay abreast of their child’s progress in each class.
If you have not yet signed up for the Go2 Parent Portal, we encourage you to stop by the school and register as soon as possible. Please remember, for student confidentiality, all registration forms must be submitted in person so that picture identification can be verified.
March 12, 2010 will be the final date for progress reports to be emailed. After March 12, grade reports should be accessed through the parent portal.
The Parent Resource Center in the front office has a collection of books, videos, and brochures intended to be a reference available to all Creekland parents. If you have borrowed a book from the Parent Resource Center in the front office, please return it as soon as possible. Creekland PTA wants this program to be a success and we need all books to be available to our parents. If a borrowed book has been misplaced, please either donate a replacement book or send a $10 check made payable to CMS-PTA - Attention Parent Resource Center. Please help us keep this very useful resource available to all of our Creekland parents. The Center is closed May 1st - August 1st. Thank you!
