Grading Rules
In order to foster common grading expectations at Creekland, all teachers have been given a grade book template to use. The template contains grading rules and grading weights that are common for the entire school.
Grading rules define how numerical grades will be allocated to the letter grades A, B, C, D, and U. Grading rules are consistent throughout Gwinnett County as part of GCPS policies and procedures.
Grading Weights define what percentage each category such as tests, classwork, and projects will count towards the total grade. These weights are consistent through all academic content areas at Creekland with the only exceptions being those Connections classes that rely heavily on performance assessments.

Classwork vs. Homework
In order to bring appropriate uniformity to the question regarding the differences in student work and the category in which that work is placed for the purpose of grading, the following explanation is provided.
Simply stated...if the work is done at home it is homework...it is not classwork that was completed at home.
If classwork is sent home for completion, the portion completed at home becomes homework and should be reflected in the grade book as such.
If a project is sent home for completion, the portion completed at home becomes homework and should be reflected in the grade book as such.
Academic Recovery Plan
Creekland has an Academic Recovery Plan that allows students to retake a test if they are not satisfied with the grade they earned. This form includes a plan for remediation that the student must complete before a retest is allowed. Students may obtain this form from his teacher so that they can schedule a time for the retest. |
